n the past, I have been critical of Cyberpower PC’s marketing materials. I’m pleased to say that they have made a very clear and significant improvement with the CUK Continuum Micro Gaming PC. The CUK is a powerful machine with an excellent feature set, all housed in a unique custom case design that tries something new.

Whereas the design of the CUK is not for everyone, it bears consideration by anyone looking at PC cases in this space. The design of the case is well executed; there are some interesting lighting effects that you will either like or hate. Every component, including peripherals, has been thoughtfully considered and they all fit together in a way that works well in the design. It’s clear that a lot of effort was put into making sure all aspects of this system worked together to create something unique.

As for hardware selection, there’s no questioning the power behind the CUK. It is filled with high end components that are up to any task you can throw at them. For my build, I went with the GTX 780, an excellent card for this price range which holds its own even with today’s top of the line cards. The performance of the machine is excellent, even with this mid-range graphics card you will find that gaming and media playback, in general, is flawless.

Whereas, the CPU and RAM are more of a mixed bag. The AMD Ryzen 3 3200G Quad Core is an excellent CPU that performs well in most situations, and the 16GB of DDR3 RAM ensures you will have memory headroom for anything you throw at this machine. Unfortunately, it is also held back by its stock clock speeds, which hold it back from being great instead of just good.

Moreover, It is good to see that Cyberpower built in a great component for storage which includes a 256GB SSD that accommodates with your OS, most important programs, and favorite games.

Pros

Performance for new games is amazing.
Compact and portable.

Conclusion

The best budget gaming pcs are the ones that prioritize budget first. It’s easy to go ahead and pick up the latest graphics card, but if it means you have to completely change your rig every few months, you’re not getting your money’s worth out of it. If you have a good processor, a decent amount of RAM, and an okay graphics card already in place then I would recommend buying a new motherboard to support the graphics card.

If your rig is old, then it’s time to buy a new system altogether. If you’re planning on spending under 1000 dollars then I would low-ball that price down to about 800 dollars so you have enough money for other needs like an operating system and peripherals. Whereas, the best prebuilt budget gaming desktops that we reviewed for you are some of the best picks from the market and you can trust them and have one of them without any hesitation.
